Rovers fans making the 500-mile round trip to Yeovil tomorrow won’t have to pay a penny after club bosses vowed to pick up the travel tab.

Around 500 supporters are expected to make the arduous trip to Somerset, Doncaster’s longest journey of the season.

But their bus travel will come at absolutely no cost after Rovers decided to help fans out during a potentially expensive chunk of the season.

Rovers’ last away game was at Brighton, just a fortnight ago, and their next road trip is Bournemouth, on March 1.

Rovers chief executive Gavin Baldwin said: “We are delighted to be able to support our fans by funding the busses for the Yeovil game.

“This game comes in the middle of two long distance away trips to Brighton and Bournemouth.

“In a bid to say thank you to our loyal fans, who have shown fantastic commitment by travelling throughout the country to support the team, the club has offered to pay for supporters travel to Yeovil by funding the supporters club busses.

“We want as many fans as possible to make the trip to Yeovil and are keen to ensure that Doncaster Rovers get great support at the game.

“This show of support from the club should make it easier on our fans pockets to attend.”

Doncaster had sold 426 tickets for Saturday’s six-pointer by the close of play on Wednesday this week. Nine coaches will transport fans south.

Anyone interested in taking advantage of the travel offer should contact the club via the usual avenues.

Tickets for the match itself are now on general sale.
