Federico Macheda and Theo Robinson produced the reaction Paul Dickov was hoping for after he left them out of the side to face Millwall.
But the attacking pair may have their work cut out claiming a starting berth for the New Year’s Day trip to Queens Park Rangers after the impressive turn of teenager Alex Peterson.
Dickov said: “Both Kiko (Macheda) and Theo have been doing ok but I felt we needed to freshen things up front.
“I felt I got the reaction from them when they came on.
“But Alex has got as good a chance as any of starting for us again.
“I’ve shown if you’re doing well in the team I’ll keep you in ut.
“I wanted to freshen it up and I did that with someone up there who was going to run all day.
“Alex took his chance.”
