Doncaster Rovers striker Andy Williams has been named the Sky Bet League One player of the month for December.
Williams netted four times during the month including a stunning touch and finish against Oldham Athletic.
He saw off competition from Burton Albion goalkeeper Jon McLaughlin, Walsall midfielder Adam Chambers and Blackpool defender Tom Aldred.
“To win this award is really pleasing,” Williams said.
“I’m delighted with it and with my form over the Christmas period.
“As a footballer you make a lot of sacrifices and it’s nice to be rewarded at the end of it all.
“I want to thank the lads and all the staff for their support in helping me reach the form that I’m in.
“I would also like to thank the fans for their brilliant support.”
Judges from Sky Bet labelled Williams’ goal against Oldham as ‘Bergkampesque.’
Sky Sports pundit Don Goodman said: “Andy has been consistently brilliant for Doncaster over the last two months in Sky Bet League One.
“His goals – eight in the league since the end of October – have proved invaluable for Doncaster and has turned their form around.”
Sky Bet football trading manager Paul Lowery said: “Many of our traders think that Doncaster could be a shrewd pick in the second half of the campaign led by the man who bagged 21 goals last season.
“Before the start of the month Williams was available at 80/1 to be top scorer in League One this season.
“But with his recent surge of goals, he has been revised to a price of 16/1.”
