WHAT better game to get back into Championship action this weekend than a local derby against our South Yorkshire neighbours Barnsley at Oakwell.

Hopefully the two-week break will not have dampened the team spirit which was so much in evidence in the 3-2 win at Ipswich, whilst our hosts were getting beat at Brighton.

The attendance will be boosted by the match ticket prices coming down, and this has showed with the number of coach bookings and enquiries I have received this week.

I believe up to Barnsley dropping the prices we had only sold around 50 tickets, with fans deciding to boycott the game.

I now think we will get well over 1,000 cheering us on.

Things have gone quiet on the transfer scene, although Willy Mckay and Dean have reportedly been in France, and we were said to be interested in Robert Pires.

With some of our injured players getting back into training, we should have a near full squad to choose from.

A win would still leave us in the bottom three but it would have the teams above us nervously looking over their shoulders.

We did have a behind-closed-doors game against Chesterfield during the week and got thumped 4-1.

It’s good to see that manager Dean Saunders is reportedly interested in bringing back a reserve team, which I know will please those with a bit of time on their hands in midweek.

A big ‘up’ to the players for turning out for the club’s race night at the Cheswold last Thursday night.

Billy Sharp, Simon Gillett, Oscar Radford, and George Friend acted as the ticket sellers for the races, plus James Chambers and Mustapha Dumbuya, and ex-Rover Bruce Dyer put in an appearance. Hopefully we will be talking to Dean soon about starting up the fans’ forums, which were so popular under Sean O’Driscoll.

Next Wednesday the Keepmoat Stadium plays host to the England Women’s team in a European Championships qualifier against Serbia and season ticket holders can get reduced price tickets. It should be a good game so why not get get along and show your support?

The Supporters Club are having a Christmas Raffle to be drawn on December 12, with a £250 first prize. We will be selling the tickets at Barnsley, and in front of the Lakeside Bar at the Watford game. If you would like to donate a raffle prize or sell tickets on our behalf ,call me on 07961-727769.
