DENABY United grabbed a penalty shoot-out victory over AFC Sportsman Rovers to reach the Doncaster and District FA Challenge Cup final.

Extra-time ended 1-1, Brett Oxer being on target for Rovers and Ryan Oakley replying for Denaby.

United took the tie 3-0 on penalties, and will now meet Yorkshire Main’s Central Midlands League team in the final at Rossington Main’s ground (7pm) on Friday.

There was better fortune for Sportsman in the Premier Division of the Senior League where they enjoyed a 5-1 win at Swinton Station Athletic.

Gavin Wilson grabbed a hat-trick for the Mexborough side with Josh Critchley checking in with a brace.

Bawtry Town were also among the goals, winning 5-1 at Kinsley Boys to leapfrog over their opponents in the table.

There was a brace of goals for Jack Burton with Steven Cadman, Philip Colton and Sam Weston completing their nap hand. Matthew Dakers notched the consolation.

Michael Horbury found the net twice when Hemsworth Town accounted for Swinton Station Athletic 3-1. Andy Lowe also netted for the winners with Shaun Jepson replying for the losers.

Highwayman had mixed fortunes in Division One.

They were pipped 3-2 at home to Bawtry Town Reserves for whom Anthony Nawn (2) and Robert Hollinger netted. But two goals apiece from Lewis Burton and Hayden Tomlinson put Highwayman on their way to a 6-3 victory over Sun FC. Hadyn Cahill and Corrie Higgins were also on target. Brad Atherton (2) and John Macleod shard out the Sun goals.

A double strike from Steven Winder laid the foundations for Ackworth United’s 4-3 victory at ISG Doncaster.
