Debut Godber double sinks Amateur

Handsworth are through to the third round of the League Cup after coming from behind to beating Koolsport Division One rivals Yorkshire Amateur 3-1 at Olivers Mount last night.

Mick Godber, making his debut, cancelled out the visitors' opener with a terrific long range strike before the break. Godber then added a second after the interval along with another effort from Adam Fretwell.

Staveley Miners Welfare extended their lead at the top of Division One to four points following a 3-1 away win at Shirebrook Town. Tom Jones and a Ryan Damms penalty put the Miners 2-0 at the break. Chris Coy sealed the win 12 minutes from time before Town grabbed late consolation from the penalty spot.

Worsbrough Bridge Athletic stretched their unbeaten league run to five games with a 3-1 win at AFC Emley. Adam Podmore headed the visitors into an eighth minute lead. Liam McFadyen's penalty extended the advantage t on 39 minutes. Emley pulled one back a minute before the break through Teo Ringrose but Podmore's fine strike nine minutes from time sealed the points.

Rossington Main romped to a 5-0 win at Appleby Frodingham. Both Zeph Thomas and Liam Charlton grabbed doubles while Bradley Billam put the icing on the cake with the fifth.
