John Sheridan reckons things are starting to improve following a draw at Orient and wins over Oldham and Colchester.

However he refuses to admit that everything’s rosy: “I wouldn’t say the corner’s been turned but getting one or two positive results won’t harm us.

“We’re working hard as a team. From the front men to the back, we’re working our socks off. We’re fighting to try and get out of where we are and we’re going to have to do that on many more occasions.”

After making a few changes from the JPT win against Oldham, he added: “It’s a squad game, I left one or two players out at Colchester who did really well for me in the Oldham game so whoever comes in, I want them to be ready. We’ve got players who want to play and get us out of the position we’re in.”

Ahead of Friday night’s home game against Bournemouth he expects to have most of his injured players back. Jimmy Juan (calf), Alex Mendy (head), Craig Westcarr (ankle), Dean Morgan (hamstring) and Simon Ford (knee) could all be in contention for the Bournemouth game and the second leg of the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy three days later.

Reflecting back on the nervous final few minutes at Colchester, Sheridan said: “That’s what we’re like, it’s hard watching for me and I’m sure it is for the fans. We do silly things. We’re a good defensive side when people are playing in front of us.

“But then we do something sloppy and it costs us and that’s been our biggest downfall this season.”
