Spireites await Wembley foes
Chesterfield: Spireites news, reports and more.
Spireites will find out who their Wembley opponents will be this evening.
Paolo Di Canio’s Swindon Town entertain fellow League Two side Barnet with the first leg score being all square at 1-1. A Swindon win would bring the most reward to Chesterfield. They have requested more than 30,000 tickets for the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy final, more than double Barnet’s allocation.
After that Spireites eyes will be on the weekend visit of table topping Charlton Athletic to the B2net. The Addicks will be bringing a decent following ensuring another big crowd.
With Paul Hayes, Bradley Wright-Phillips, Yann Kermorgant, former Barnsley man Danny Haynes and Leon Clarke, still Chesterfield’s leading scorer this term, Chris Powell’s squad look to have plenty of fire-power.
Spireites assistant manager Tommy Wright said: “Charlton are having a fantastic season, beating most of the teams around them, including both Sheffield clubs and Huddersfield. But we’ll go in there positive after the setback at Carlisle.”
The Addicks have won 11 on the road - four more than any other League One side has managed.
Craig Westcarr has been back in training for a week after his ankle injury but Jimmy Juan is progressing slowly.
