Spireites boss seals Breckin's return
Former Spireites defender Ian Breckin has formally rejoined Chesterfield after signing a two-year contract.
He is manager John Sheridan's first signing since he replaced Lee Richardson in the hot-seat last month.
The ex-Chesterfield captain made 249 appearances for Spireites between 1997 and 2002 following a 100,000 transfer from Rotherham United and he led the side to promotion in 2001.
He left Saltergate to join Wigan Athletic where he twice won promotion before moving to Nottingham Forest for 350,000, where he won a further promotion.
Breckin said: "I'm delighted to be returning to Chesterfield at a time of historic change for the club with the move to the new stadium."
His manager added: "I'm really pleased to sign a player with great experience who has a hunger to help us get out of League Two. We have done well to get him as a number of other clubs were competing for his signature."
Left back Gregor Robertson is expected to re-sign today.
