Loan defender Hurst doubt as Spireites bid for lift-off

editorial image

Chesterfield manager John Sheridan has another injury to contend with.

Whilst his long term injury list has cleared, there have been a number of minor niggles of late and the latest surrounds full back James Hurst.

The West Brom loanee took a knock on his ankle and is having a scan to assess the damage. Should he be unavailable for the visit of Bournemouth on Friday evening, Drew Talbot will almost certainly revert to right back from right wing.

Craig Westcarr, Alex Mendy and Dean Morgan should all be available after their injuries giving the manager plenty of options if Hurst fails to recover.

Bournemouth were hoping to have added ex-player Josh McQuoid to their squad for the match but former Cherries boss Eddie Howe has snapped him up. McQuoid left Dean Court for Millwall last year but was made available for loan, but he’s joined Howe at Burnley instead.

Lee Bradbury wants another front man desperately to add fire power to the play-off chasing side who haven’t lost an away game in League One since September 3.

Spireites will be looking to continue their improved form. Victories against Oldham in the JPT and at Colchester United on Saturday means it’s just one defeat in six for the bottom of the table side. Victory over Bournemouth will lift the side off the bottom for the first time since Bonfire Night.
