Gregor stays as Spireites tee up

CHESTERFIELD left-back Gregor Robertson has extended his stay at Saltergate by an extra year.

The 25-year-old former Rotherham United defender has made more than 80 first-team appearances for Chesterfield since moving from Millmoor two years ago.

The Edinburgh-born ex-Scotland Under-21 international is the fourth out-of-contract player to agree to stay.

Defender Aaron Downes and midfielder Derek Niven have already agreed new two-year deals, while centre half Danny Hall agreed a one-year deal.

Striker Jack Lester, who had a year to run, has extended his stay by a further year.

Experienced defender Ian Breckin is manager John Sheridan's first new signing.

The players reported back for pre-season training yesterday. Today they are enjoying a day at Grassmoor Golf Club.

Two ex Chesterfield players joined new clubs this week.

Irish defender Alan O'Hare has moved from Mansfield Town to York City whilst one-time loanee Brendan Moloney has moved across the Trent from Forest to Notts County on a six-month loan deal.

County have also recruited former Owls defender Graeme Lee from Bradford City, as manager Ian McParland launches a promotion assault following news of their impending takeover by a Middle-East based consortium.
