Duo aided by postponement

Chesterfield: Spireites news, reports and more.

THE postponement of Chesterfield’s Johnstone’s Paint Trophy Northern Final first leg has helped two players in their quest for fitness.

The tie with Oldham was called off yesterday due to a frozen pitch at the B2net Stadium and will now be played this evening (7.45pm).

The 24-hour delay will help Craig Westcarr (ankle) and Simon Ford (knee) as they battle to be fit. Spireites manager John Sheridan also had time to sign Celtic defender Josh Thompson, aged 20 on loan to the end of the season.

All tickets from yesterday will be valid for tonight while refunds will be available for supporters not able to make the rearranged date.
