Defender Hurst joins Spireites
Chesterfield: Spireites news, reports and more.
Spireites have signed 19 year old right back James Hurst on loan for the rest of the season.
The West Bromwich Albion player is match fit having appeared for the full 90 minutes in Shrewsbury’s 1-0 loss at Middlesbrough in the Cup last weekend, his last game on loan in Shropshire. Previously he’s been a professional at Portsmouth and he’s been on loan in Iceland and at Blackpool.
He played at the B2net Stadium last season, for England U19 in their match against Germany.
He joins left back Liam Ridehalgh at the B2net, the Huddersfield Town man also on loan to the end of the season.
And Chesterfield connections will be hoping for more desperately needed new faces that majority shareholder Dave Allen has promised funds for.
Spireites travel to Leyton Orient at the weekend expecting some sort of reaction from the hosts.
The London side had a dreadful start to the season but, after 10 winless games, went on a terrific run that saw them ease into mid-table. However last Saturday they made the long trip to Carlisle United and were hammered 4-1.
Coach Mark Crossley saw his reserves side put up a decent show in a 3-2 defeat at Coventry City. Northern Ireland International and ex-Spireite Sammy Clingan played an hour after injury for the Sky Blues who saw Freddy Eastwood bag a brace. Simon Ford and second year trainee Jacob Hazel were on target for Chesterfield whilst another trainee, keeper Sam West, saved a penalty.
Frenchman Jimmy Juan put in another shift and must now be close to being considered for a start.
