Chesterfield fans might want to form a guard of honour for referee Oliver Langford when he arrives at the Proact on Saturday.

The man in the middle for the clash with Scunthorpe United was also in charge on the day the Spireites slaughtered the Shrews.

January’s 7-1 thrashing of Shrewsbury saw Langford award two spot-kicks to the hosts and show a red card to Shrew Junior Brown.

Langford, from the West Midlands, has refereed twice already this season in League One and dished out 11 cards.

Jordan Clarke of Scunthorpe United is in the top six of the division’s ‘bad boys’ with five yellow cards and a red to his name already.

On Saturday Langford will be joined by assistant referees Geoffrey Russell and Adam Crysell, with Steven Copeland the fourth official.
