Ahead of Chesterfield’s League One clash with Bury this weekend, take a look back at one of the Spireites’ best days out against the Shakers.

In 1995 Chesterfield finished third in the Third Division, one place ahead of Bury, and the teams met in the play-off final at Wembley after beating Mansfield Town and Preston North End respectively in the semi-finals.

At the national stadium, goals from Tony Lormor and Phil Robinson gave Chesterfield promotion back to the third tier of English football.

For manager John Duncan it was his second major triumph with Town, having won the Fourth Division title in 1985.

The most recent meeting of the two sides came in the final home game of last season, the Spireites dominating Bury to secure their League One status.

A Jay O’Shea penalty and goals from Lee Novak and Dan Gardner did the damage for Danny Wilson’s men.
