Spireites’ squad can’t wait for the opening game at Bury on August 3 to come along.
After showing glimpses of excellence in the weekend win over Huddersfield Town and Tuesday’s draw a home to Nottingham Forest, Chesterfield’s tweeters have made their feelings clear.
Drew Talbot posted: “Another top team performance, well pleased! Roll on the 3rd August.” Jay O’Shea tweeted, “Can’t wait for the season to start now!” That was a feeling shared by Tendayi Darikwa, “Another good team performance.”
Chesterfield’s new signing Ritchie Humphreys summed up: “Decent display against a strong Forest team. Some great passages of play and chances.” The club have ended their interest in signing Southend’s Ryan Cresswell, Chief Executive Chris Turner indicated that no deal looked likely to be found.
Defender Matty Brown, from Marine and ex Hull City midfielder Jamie Devitt are set to join Spireites after trials. Spireites travel to Southport on Saturday as they continue the build up to what looks a promising season.
