Spireites’ 2-0 win over AFC Wimbledon last weekend was, by common consent, the League Two leaders’ best showing of the season.
Goals from the effervescent Gary Roberts and a header from Sam Hird, one in each half, earned Paul Cook’s pacesetters their sixth win in seven games but the visitors showed plenty of spirit throughout.
Despite the home side enjoying around two-thirds of the possession, Neal Ardley’s side, who started the game in third spot with three straight wins, had plenty of chances and Tommy Lee had to be on top form. Indeed such was the importance of the keeper’s regular interventions, he was voted Man of the Match on the day.
