Spireites have confirmed that Drew Talbot will miss the Coventry City game at the weekend through suspension.
The right back, who only recently returned to the side after overcoming an ankle injury, was red carded 15 minutes into the 3-3 home draw with Colchester United last Saturday.
Despite the belief that the man he bundled over, Marvin Sordell, was offside before the coming together, Spireites have accepted the penalty and will replace the long serving player for the trip to the Ricoh Arena.
Chris Herd is favourite to come in to the right-back slot for his Spireites debut.
Talbot’s fellow full-back, left sider Dan Jones, registered his first league goal for the club in that game as he drifted in a right sided free-kick beyond all in the box to give Chesterfield a 1-0 lead.
The ex-Owls man said: “We practice free-kicks a lot and I also practice on my own since the gaffer’s got me taking them.
“I used to take free-kicks earlier on in my career but then I always got told to stay back to defend.
“It’s nice to be able to take them, I just aim for an area and keep it above head height; this time it went in, so I was very happy.
“It’s what the gaffer wants, so I’ve taken it upon myself to practice so that I can get it spot-on and I like the responsibility.”
Jones has been enjoying an excellent season to date; he looks fitter and hungrier than in his opening season, which derailed somewhat when he was red carded for an incident with Crawley Town’s Izale McLeod last November.
