Drew Talbot hopes the frantic festive fixture schedule will put some daylight between Chesterfield and the chasing play-off pack.
The Spireites will take to the field six times over the coming three weeks which sees no less than 18 points up for grabs in League Two.
Paul Cook’s side will pit themselves against sides outside of the play-offs picture - Plymouth, Exeter, Hartlepool and Dagenham - in December before away trips to Northampton and Cheltenham.
And, with the top of the division finely in the balance as five points separate the top 10, Talbot believes any team able to put a good run together will pull away.
He said: “I enjoy the hectic schedule. We maybe don’t train as much but I love playing games and I look forward to this time of the year.”
