Spireites take a look at Marine duo

The Spireites are to take a look at two players from new coach Kevin Lynch’s former club Marine.

Defenders Matt Brown and John Shaw will spend the first part of July on trial at Chesterfield looking to impress manager Paul Cook enough to give them a contract.

Marine’s managerial replacement for Lynch, Phil Brazier, has indicated the duo would be welcomed back to his club should the trial not work out.

Brown was a junior at Tranmere Rovers before moving to Manchester City where he became reserve team skipper. He’s also played for Northwich Victoria.

Shaw came through the ranks at Marine and was their Player of the Year in 2011-12. Last season one of his two goals came in a 2-1 win over Stocksbridge Park Steels. Brown’s only goal last term was in a 1-1 draw at Worksop Town.
