Spireites said to be close to McGinn signing

Chesterfield are said to be close to confirming the signing of defender Paul McGinn.

The 25-year-old right-back turned down the chance to remain with Dundee, where he has spent the past two seasons.

Reports in Scotland say he’s agreed a two-year deal with the Spireites after talks between his agent and the club.

The brother of former Sheffield United player Stephen McGinn, he counts Queen’s Park, St Mirren and Dumbarton among his former clubs.

The full-back areas proved problematic for Chesterfield at times last season, with a lack of depth and cover for injuries.
