Spireites assistant boss Leam Richardson was delighted with his first view of the team in meaningful action.
Richardson, who re-joined his former Accrington Stanley boss Paul Cook in the summer said after the weekend 3-0 win at Buxton: “The lads trained tirelessly hard in the morning ahead of going to Buxton to start our pre-season and I’m made up.
“The application Buxton was great as well and we got exactly what we wanted out of the day. We put two elevens out, very mixed, and we got out of the day exactly what we wanted.”
Chesterfield played two completely different outfield teams in each half, with five trialists in the first half and two after the break.
Richardson commented on the chances of any of them joining the club: “They’re all possibilities, they’re all good players and we’re constantly looking for good players.
“We’ll keep monitoring their fitness and seeing if they have what we need.”
