Even the fearless Nicky Law took evasive action when Mark Willians called ‘mine!’ writes Spireites historian Stuart Basson.

Pictured is action from the meeting between Chesterfield and Bradford City on 4th November 1995.

Although Bomber’s header has a goal-bound look about it, the match was won with two Law penalties that engineered a recovery from an early Neil Tolson goal for City.

Defender Richard Liburd earned his marching orders with a deliberate handball in the 74th minute to present Law with his second penalty of the match, which was dispatched in his typically powerful fashion.

In all, the current Alfreton Manager successfully drove eight spot kicks home for the Spireites, seven of them in the 1995-6 season, all gleefully celebrated on the terraces.

No-one gave a thought for the poor old football!
