Photographer James Williamson has picked his Spireites photo of the week, and it was a dramatic one.
There were alot of memories from the 2014/15 season for Chesterfield, one being of course their FA Cup run which began with a 6-0 trouncing of Braintree and of course the MK Dons controversy caused by registration issues.
And then there was the Scunthorpe game.
The first game was at Glanford Park and it was looking grim for Chesterfield who were 2-0 down at the end of the first half.
Doyle (remember him?) had pulled one back from the penalty spot but Scunthorpe had held on through some fantastic and frustrating goalkeeping from Sam Slocombe. But as full-time was drawing near Jay O’Shea popped up with an equaliser giving Chesterfield a replay.
This photo is of that celebration and shows how much it meant to the team.
Chesterfield went on to win that replay through two extra time Sam Clucas goals and of course bowed out to a promotion chasing Derby County in Round Four.
