Spireites have moved one in and one out of their squad ahead of tomorrow’s home derby against the Blades.
John Sheridan has snapped up Scott Griffiths from Peterborough United for his second loan spell at the B2net. Moving out, to Crewe Alexandra, is utility man Jamie Lowry who needs games under his belt after missing the vast majority of the last two years through injury. Griffiths, 25, a crowd favourite last season as Spireites stormed to the League Two Championship, appeared in 33 games. He looked set to move permanently to Chesterfield in the summer but no move came about and this season, he’s had a loan spell at basement side Crawley Town. He began his senior career with Dagenham & Redbridge when they were still in the Conference and he played a major part in two promotions for them before moving to London Road.
Griffiths becomes the 7th loan man on Spireites’ roster meaning two of the current borrowed players will be unable to be included in the squad for the lunchtime game tomorrow.
Keeper Ole Soderberg could be one to miss out with Greg Fleming in line for a recall after the Swede has conceded 10 goals in the last three games whilst both Jonathan Grounds and Lee Johnson see their short spells end after the match.
Striker Jack Lester could be recalled to the squad.
