Lee Novak is awaiting a scan on his injured thigh to discover how long he’ll be missing from Spireites action.

The striker, on a season long loan from Birmingham City, picked up the knock in last Saturday’s defeat at Coventry City.

Boss Dean Saunders revealed the club were still in the dark as to how long they would have to cope without the 26-year-old.

“He’s having a scan tomorrow so we don’t know yet, it could be anything really,” he said.

“We won’t know until we get the results, (but) I don’t think he’ll be fit for Saturday’s game.”

The rest of the first team squad are injury free ahead of Saturday’s home game against league leaders Burton Albion.

But reserve goalkeeper Aaron Chapman won’t be in contention for a place in the squad after getting a bang on the head in midweek action against Scunthorpe United.

Saunders said: “Aaron Chapman came in and played well (for the reserves) but got splatted by Dave Syers at Scunthorpe and had to go to hospital.

“He’s out now but he’s got a bit of concussion so he won’t be available for Saturday.”
