Lee Novak has joined Chesterfield on a season-long loan from Birmingham City.
The striker held talks with Spireites manager Dean Saunders on Thursday and admits he can’t wait to get started.
Novak said: “When I spoke to the gaffer yesterday, he wanted me in straight away and I couldn’t wait to come in.
“I’ll give everything and I’ve scored quite a few goals at League One level. I want to help the club go up.”
The 26-year-old scored 34 goals in 89 league starts for Huddersfield and helped them win promotion to the Championship.
Saunders was delighted his patience has paid off with the capture of Novak.
He said: “I’ve been waiting and waiting and monitoring the situation regarding Lee since the day I arrived here. I knew I had to wait until after the first couple of games before other managers showed their hand about their squad.
“Birmingham have done us a good deal and he can only add to what we’ve got. Lee works hard, he’s strong in the air and he scores so he can only add to what we’ve got. He’s got a great attitude and he gives us another option in attack.”
