Have your say

Chesterfield fans have given their reaction to Paul Cook’s departure from Chesterfield.

The Spireites confirmed that he had been released from his contract to join Portsmouth and assistant Leam Richardson has also left.

Rumours are rife with who will take over the Proact hot seat with Keith Hill, Dean Saunders and Neil Redfearn among the front runners.

Paul Eggleston posted on Facebook: “He made his mind up ages ago when he knew we weren’t giving him the money to get out of League One. If he does what he did here there’s no reason why he can’t take Portsmouth back up to the Championship or even the Premier League. They are a much bigger club than us. Keith Hill is a good manager, and we have double the attendances Rochdale get.”

Sav Michael said: “I’d go for Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink who’s never managed before in his life and still won promotion with Burton unbeaten.”

Marie England added: “I’m gutted. I can see his reasons for going as Pompey have tripled his wages and have a much bigger player budget than the board at CFC will allow. But at the same time it’s a bit two steps forward two steps back as CFC are on the cusp of championship, and Portsmouth’s are average at best. I wish him well but remain gutted. Just hope we don’t end up with Dean Saunders he’s not got a scooby-do what he’s doing.”
