CHESTERFIELD manager John Sheridan’s positive views on newly-signed Sam Hird have impressed the ex-Doncaster Rovers defender.
Hird said: “It’s obviously positive when a manager says good things.
“When you come somewhere and the manager makes you feel as wanted as he does, it gives you a big insight into what he wants to do with the football club.
“He really wants to do well and so do I and I’m sure that everybody else does.
“It’s a good fit and I’m sure everybody will be pushing now to make sure that we have a good season.”
The defender concluded: “I’m sure the lads here were disappointed to get relegated last season and they’ll be under the same impressions that they’re too good to play in League Two.
“We’ll all be pushing to get Chesterfield back up to League One and, who knows, maybe eventually to the Championship.”
Meanwhile, Chesterfield’s Capital One Cup encounter at home to Tranmere Rovers has been confirmed as kicking off at 7.45pm on Tuesday August 14.
