Spireites two-goal weekend striker Marc Richards was on a “massive downer” despite his team’s win at Fleetwood.
“If we’d have nicked a point from Plymouth, we’d be in with a shout of having something to play for in the last game. No-one’s more disappointed than the players” he said. “The last six weeks we’ve done reasonably well, Plymouth was a blip. At Fleetwood we played against a good team and came away with victory.”
Richards said of sub Armand Gnanduillet whose introduction changed the game: “When you bring him on he’s a handful, you don’t quite know what you’re getting from him!.”
Paul Cook’s line up for Exeter City on Saturday is unknown, but Jack Lester will captain the side on what will be his final day as a Spireite after six seasons with the club.
