No games before Christmas but three in eight days from Boxing Day onwards for the Spireites with assistant manager Tommy Wright commening:
“It’s a busy time, a busy schedule but we’ll look after the players, try and give them some time with their families. But first and foremost, they’re professional footballers and that’s what must come first.”
Following on from the draw with Walsall, Wright said: “Jack Lester got a bit of a gash on his ankle but that’s not too bad.
“The old man kept going and did what he’s good at. When we get good service into him, he’s a handful, he’s a credit to the club.”
New signing, 28-year-old holding midfielder Jimmy Juan, will soon be available for selection: “Jimmy needs to really work on his fitness so hopefully he’ll be available for the first team in the next couple of weeks”, said Wright, adding: “He hasn’t played for a while so he needs a few reserves games. He’s a good footballer, a good passer of the ball, lovely on the deck, and I’m sure he’ll be a good addition to the club.”
Commenting on the recent backing of the management team from the board, Wright said: “Everybody knows we need to be doing better results and points-wise but the money people can see we’re on the right lines. We probably do need one or two additions and hopefully we can do that in January.
“But when you go after good players, there are always one or two other clubs after them. We have one or two irons in the fire but until they sign on the dotted line you have to hope.”
