Chesterfield fans are split on the signing of controversial striker Ched Evans.
The arrival of the free agent at the Proact yesterday has sparked a fierce debate.
Many supporters have welcomed the Welsh international, who is a proven and prolific goalscorer.
But there are those who have slammed the club for signing such a controversial figure – Evans of course awaiting a retrial over allegations of rape.
Yesterday we ran an online poll asking if supporters welcomed the move or not.
More than 1,000 responded, with 55 per cent delcaring they did not welcome Evans and 45 per cent approving of the 27-year-old’s addition to Danny Wilson’s squad.
It’s important to note that, as with all web polls, there’s no guarantee that all respondents were Spireites fans.
But the results do prove that opinion, be it within the fanbase of Chesterfield Football Club, or in the wider context of the general public, is split when it comes to Evans.
