Chesterfield midfielder Sam Morsy could hardly contain his delight following a return to the starting lineup.
The 22-year-old had been sidelined for the past 10 weeks with a torn medial collateral ligament he suffered against Bristol Rovers on October 26.
After a successful rehabilitation programme prior to Christmas, Morsy has been closing in on a return to action for the past fortnight.
The weather scuppered any chance he might have had to feature against Northampton Town and Cheltenham Town over the New Year period.
But the last week has seen him make back-to-back starts against Long Eaton United in the Derbyshire Senior Cup and Saturday’s 4-0 win over Bury in League Two.
And the former Port Vale man said: “I’m delighted to be back. It’s been frustrating on the sidelines.”
