Spireites boss John Sheridan has been talking candidly about the situation the team are in.
With Sheffield United visiting on Saturday and a 5-2 thumping at Oldham fresh in everyone’s minds, the manager is looking towards Thursday’s loan deadline and hoping to bring in new faces.
He said: “I don’t think loan players is the answer but if I can get some players who I can then bring in permanently I will. I need to bring somebody in to give us a lift for the big game on Saturday and then the Christmas period.
“I need someone in who’s going to try and get us going on the pitch. It’s on the pitch we need it, some are getting found out, things just aren’t happening. We’re OK going forward, it’s the goals we concede. People must be watching thinking here we go again, we’re letting goals in for fun.”
He added: “It might be me picking the wrong players, it looks like I’m picking the wrong team because we keep on getting beaten.”
Sheridan dismissed the fact that he may be being hounded from above saying: “I’m not getting pressure for the board, I’m very happy here and I want to do really, really well here. But the turnaround has got to come quickly, we can’t drop any lower.”
Chesterfield have six men on loan but Lee Johnson and Jonathan Grounds’ spells end after the Blades game.
