CHESTERFIELD hammered fellow promotion candidates Wycombe Wanderers 4-1 while Rotherham United got a point with a 1-1 away draw at Torquay United, writes digital editor Graham Walker.
Chesterfield are now nine points clear at the top of League Two.
The hosts took the lead when Deane Smalley slotted home from Danny Whitaker’s free kick.
Whitaker doubled the score from the penalty spot after Jack Lester was brought down by Alan Bennett before Lester fired home after good control.
Jon-Paul Pitman lashed in a rebound for the Chairboys but Craig Davies finished after bad defending to make it 4-1.
ROTHERHAM found a late equaliser when Ryan Taylor scored from the edge of the penalty box in the 73rd minute away at Torquay.
The home side took the lead when Eunan O’Kane found the net from close range in the first half.
But the draw means the Millers slip to fourth spot on goal difference after Bury leap-frogged them beating fifth place Shrewsbury 3-0.
