Chesterfield’s Jimmy Ryan says he is fully focused on his football now matters off the pitch have been resolved.
The midfielder’s contract with the Spireites was extended last month, amidst speculation regarding his future, in a deal which tied him to the club until the summer of 2015.
When the 25-year-old arrived at the Proact Stadium from Scunthorpe United in June of last year it was agreed he would be rewarded with an extension after making a set number of appearances.
The ever-present Spireite said: “I’ve got that extra bit of security for next year.
“When I first signed it was already set in my contract that it would happen after so many games so it was always in the back of my mind.
“To be honest, what happens off the pitch happens. I’m just concentrating on doing well on the pitch for myself and for Chesterfield.
He added: “I’m happy with how I’m playing and the way the gaffer (Paul Cook) likes to play suits me down to the ground.
“I like to play a passing game and I want to keep it going and help get us promoted.”
