Chesterfield legend Jack Lester is back in football less than nine months after he announced his retirement from the game.
The Sheffield-born striker, 38, joined Conference Premier side Gateshead this week on a deal until the end of the season.
Gateshead are riding high in fourth spot - a place behind Alfreton Town - and manager Gary Mills confirmed the deal on the club’s website.
He said: “It’s a great signing for the club. Lester is a player who has scored more than 170 goals in a long and distinguished career in the Football League.”
