Planning permission to demolish the old Saltergate ground and build 68 homes on the site has been passed by Chesterfield Council.
The planning committee called for some minor tweaks to the original application regarding traffic flows, but the way is now open for GB Development Solutions, a related company to the one that built the B2net Stadium, to develop the site which was the club’s home from 1871 to 2010.
The go-ahead has been given for two and three storey detached, semi-detached and terraced houses to be built atthe location.
Full ownership has not yet passed from Chesterfield FC to the developers.
This is now expected to happen quickly, though it’s not yet known when demolition of the ageing ground will begin.
