Both Jon Nolan and Ched Evans featured in training ahead of the FA Cup clash with Wycombe on Saturday, Wilson revealing that an ice pack spotted on Evans knee yesterday was simply precautionary.

The two short-term injury victims were joined by a man who hasn’t played football for 15 months.

Angel Martinez was finally back on the training ground following a series of operations on a complex knee issue.

Wilson said: “We’ve had Jon Nolan and Ched Evans training better this week.

“They’re still not 100 per cent yet. We’ll wait and see on Saturday if we do something with them.

“We’ve had Angel on the training ground which has been fantastic and he got a round of applause coming back onto the training ground, the lads appreciated it.”

Wilson is hoping to have the Spaniard available soon, but the 30-year-old midfielder won’t be rushed.

“It’s been a long old slog for him, he’s had a few setbacks, but hopefully he’s seen the back end of them now.

“We’ll drip feed him into the training sessions we’re having and hopefully get that confidence back.”

In more good news, left-back Dan Jones is a week or two away from a return to training.

But there’s no such luck for goalkeeper Lee, who needs another exploratory operation on his troublesome shoulder.

He first went under the knife in the summer.

Wilson said: “It’s going to be another three or four weeks before we see him again,”

“I’m no expert on the medical side of it but when you’ve got intrusions, operations all the time there’s obviously a delay, but as long as they get it right we’re not bothered.”
