Football school silent on manager's exit, deny knowledge of legal action

Steve Hancock has left his role at Chesterfield FC Player Progression Pathway and also his position at Chesterfield FC as head of academy recruitment.

The football coach has refused to comment to the Derbyshire Times but several other coaches have also departed the PPP citing unpaid or delayed wages.

A spokesman for the PPP said: “With regard former employees, we feel that matters relating to the terms of their employment should remain confidential.”

Chris Turner, a director of the PPP and CEO of Chesterfield FC, criticised three coaches who left his football school last Monday, alleging their exits were timed to damage the organisation.

Two of the trio, Nev Hunt and James Whitfield, hit back, insisting their departure was due to unpaid wages.

The PPP has also refuted a claim that they’re being taken to court over an unpaid invoice for work carried out on the CFC Village last summer.

The Derbyshire Times understands that a South Yorkshire based electrician has commenced legal action to recover the debt.

The PPP spokesman said: “The organisation is not subject to any legal proceedings.”
