CHESTERFIELD kick off their on the pitch pre-season games at neighbouring Alfreton Town this evening (7.45pm).
Manager John Sheridan will be treating this game as a fitness build-up whereas Nicky Law’s Reds will be hoping to notch a league scalp as they prepare for their first ever season in the Conference National.
Sheridan will play as many of his first-team squad as possible and also looks set to have a couple of trialists on show.
It’s expected that there will be a goalkeeper being tried out for at least half of the game while there is also a Frenchman set to play.
He apparently played for Matlock Town earlier this week to improve his fitness but no details of his identity came out of the Causeway Lane club.
New signings Mark Randall and Nathan Smith are expected to play some part in the game, as are Aaron Downes and Jamie Lowry, on the comeback trail from long term injuries.
