THE Spireites have warned supporters to avoid coming on to the pitch in the final home match of the season against Gillingham on Saturday - or risk being ejected and banned from the stadium.
The League Two leaders are keen to ensure there is no repetition of the unsavoury incidents witnessed at the Bury game on Easter Monday when fans caused disorder on the pitch following Jack Lester’s equaliser.
Extra stewards have been recruited for the sold-out clash to help things run smoothly with specific instructions to keep entrances and exits clear at all times.
The lap of honour will be curtailed if any fans go onto the pitch.
Stadium Director Phillip Taylor said: “The club just wants everyone to be able to celebrate a fantastic season; we don’t want the exuberance of the day to lead to any incursion onto the pitch and an increased risk of disorder, which would spoil the day and the Club’s good name.”
Chesterfield require just a point to seal the title.
