FA Cup: Non-league Daventry handed Spireites tie

Have your say

League Two high-fliers Chesterfield will take on eighth-tier opposition in the first round of the FA Cup after they were drawn to play Daventry Town.

Daventry are the lowest-ranked club certain of appearing in the first round of the famous old competition, but face a difficult task away to a Chesterfield side expected to push for promotion this term.

Sheffield United, languishing in 20th position in League One despite Saturday’s comfortable 3-1 victory over Crewe Alexandra in Nigel Clough’s first match at the helm, will travel to Colchester United. United have reached the fourth round of the tournament in each of the last two seasons.

Rotherham United will host Yorkshire rivals Bradford City. Both sides gained promotion out of League Two last term.
