CHESTERFIELD boss John Sheridan says that more of the same application will get his side the rewards they crave.
Despite picking up just one point from the opening two games, Sheridan has seen plenty of positives: “Results wise, I’m not pleased, but the way we’ve gone about the games, we could’ve won both,” he said.
“We’ve had 29 attempts at goal in the two games, 22 on target. If we carry on that average, we’re due to score a few goals and win one or two games.”
He admitted: “We can still do things a lot better, just get in and around the ball a little bit more, but in both games, we defended quite well. Rochdale are a good side but a lot of their possession was in front of us. They scored a wonder goal - not much you can do about them - and they had one opportunity in the first half when the lad should’ve scored but we’ve had some great chances.”
The Spireites have completed the signing of Liam Ridehalgh from Huddersfield Town on a one-month loan deal. The 21-year-old spent the second half of last season with the Spireites, making 20 appearances and scoring one goal.
