Spireites boss Paul Cook has recalled midfielder Sam Togwell from his loan spell at Wycombe Wanderers earlier than expected.
Togwell joined the Chairboys in March on a month’s loan which was due to expire on Saturday and has made four appearances. His debut for Wycombe went from bad to worse when he conceded a penalty and was later sent off in a 2-0 defeat at York City.
But Cook has brought the 29-year-old back from his loan due to Ollie Banks’s injury which has ruled him out for the season. He will be in contention for this Saturday’s game at Hartlepool United, but another loan figure, Mason Bennett, will not feature.
The 17-year-old has also been recalled by his parent club, Derby County, early to cover injuries and help with the run-in. His time at Chesterfield was also due to end on Saturday, but Rams head coach Steve McClaren clearly feels he has a part to play as the side target promotion.
Bennett was predominantly used as a substitute during his time at the Proact Stadium, starting just once, in a 1-0 win over Morecambe. His best display came when he was introduced as a substitute at Field Mill in the draw against rivals Mansfield. Town.
