Chesterfield’s pre-season programme revs up a notch tomorrow.
Following games against sides down the pyramid at Staveley and Matlock, both easily won, Spireites move to Conference side AFC Telford United. Formed only in 2004 by a Supporters Trust, the Bucks have enjoyed three promotions since getting back to the level they were at when the previous club went bust. Managed by former Owls raider Andy Sinton, they held on to their Conference status last season. In midweek, they held League One side Walsall to a 0-0 draw.
To date, a quartet of Spireites have not appeared in either of the games. Jack Lester and Neal Trotman trained pre-match at Matlock on Tuesday but are unlikely to make the trip to Shropshire. Nathan Smith had a niggle and Craig Westcarr was under the weather for the last game. They could be involved.
Trialists Manny Panther and Keith Quinn are expected to continue their pitch time at the club as they seek deals.
Having bagged 11 goals in 180 minutes so far, five men have each scored two. As a result, Jacob Hazel, Scott Boden, Jordan Bowery, Mark Randall and Marc Richards will all be hoping to move away from their team-mates in the scoring stakes.
