THERE are a couple of familiar footballing names amongthe three young players Chesterfield have taken on from their youth team.
Jack Waddle is the son of ex-Owls and England star Chris whilst Jacob Hazel’s father was flying winger Des who began at Wednesday, played over 200 games for Rotherham United and had a season at Chesterfield.
Noting their signing and also of fellow youth teammer Jonathan Wafula, Spireites’ boss John Sheridan said they all have potential.
“That’s why we’ve signed them and we think they’ve a chance of being players,” he said.
“They’ll train with the first team and hopefully push for a place. It doesn’t matter what age they are, they just need to get stronger, fit in with the group and hopefully they’ll be successful in their careers.”
Meanwhile, Sheridan reflected on the relegation season, saying it had been tough for everyone: “I didn’t want a relegation on my CV, I’m very disappointed but we aim to come back stronger.”
