CHESTERFIELD assistant manager Tommy Wright is pleased with how the pre-season games have gone so far.
A 6-1 win at Staveley was followed by a 5-1 win at Matlock Town.
Wright said: “We were playing a better team, no disrespect to Staveley; it was a lovely pitch and a really hot evening, so it was a really good workout.
“We did very well, we approached the game very well and we were very pleased with everybody. If you don’t put the effort in, you get found out, and in the two games we’ve played so far, the effort’s been first class. We’ve passed it well and we’ve scored some good goals.”
Major signing Marc Richards played his first football for the club: he scored with a free-kick and a penalty after going on for the second half. Wright said: “Marc looked good, that’s why we’ve brought him to the club. There were a lot of teams chasing his signature. We had great backing from the owner and I’m sure he’ll be a great acquisition.”
