CHESTERFIELD host Championship new boys Huddersfield Town this evening.
Simon Grayson’s side, who’ve been using a 4-3-3 formation in their build-up games, drew 0-0 at Oldham Athletic on Saturday.
Hot-shot Jordan Rhodes played the second half of the game, initially alongside Danny Ward and summer signing from Crystal Palace Sean Scannell, but when striker Lee Novak came on with 65 minutes played they reverted to 4-4-2.
Derby County follow Huddersfield to the B2net, when they visit on Saturday.
Spireites boss John Sheridan said: “They’ll be two good games and they’ll be the games where I’ll not be using so many players.
“It’ll be important to get the right shape. They’ll both give us a good test that’ll stand us in good stead for the first game of the season, which is the most important game.”
Tonight he’ll be playing a side close to that which will take on Tranmere in the Capital One Cup in a week.
When asked if he’s formulated his team, he quipped: “I haven’t got that many players to pick from!”
He added: “I’ve got players that want to be playing in the first game, that’s what I keep telling them. I want them to impress me. It doesn’t matter who I’ve signed; I’ll pick the team that’s going to get us off to a good start.”
