Spireites caretaker boss Tommy Wright was a relieved man after his side rode their luck to beat Accrington Stanley in midweek.
Reflecting on the 4-3 win he said: “I think I’m a lucky manager after that game. To win the game was a bit harsh on Accrington, they caused us a lot of problems and they were better than us. We had four or five players who weren’t at the races.
“The two strikers were excellent again, we got good service into them and we can score goals, but in other areas of the pitch we weren’t good.”
Looking forward to this weekend Wright said: “We’ve got a toughie at Northampton on Saturday, they won again in midweek.
“That’ll be a different type of game, they’re a bit more direct than Accrington and we need to defend a lot better.”
Striker Marc Richards, who bagged his first of the season against Accrington but was stretchered off after the final whistle, will miss out on the trip to Northampton Town after sustaining an ankle problem.
